NRW Nano-Conference (online) on current innovations in materials and applications - book now!

21 - 23 April 2021

The 9th NRW Nano-Conference promises an international audience on three varied days dedicated to nanotechnologies, innovative materials and their applications in the - pandemic - online format. The NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs, the NMWP.NRW cluster and Wirtschaftsförderung Münster GmbH (WFM) are the organisers of the industry get-together, which was originally scheduled to take place in Münster in 2020 for the second time after 2016. Despite the move to the internet, the competence and expertise available in Münster as a nanotechnology location will be expressed in numerous contributions (see below).

The interdisciplinary exchange will focus on fields of application such as resource efficiency, sustainable energy generation and storage, mobility, electronics and health. In the opinion of the representatives from science and research as well as business and politics, these are the major challenges of today.

A proven core element of the NRW Nano Conference is the scientific programme. The plenary lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. Ina Schieferdecker from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Keynote speakers are Professor Sir Konstantin S. Novoselov, Professor Karsten Seidl and Prof. Dr. Martin Winter. Also of interest is the showcase in the virtual exhibition halls, for which the exhibitors have attracted more than 30 exhibitors.

In addition to numerous expert presentations in "classic" key topics such as "Energy Efficiency", "Electronics" and "Health/Medicine", there are also the new specialist sessions "Quantum Technology: Computing/Simulation/ Sensors/ Communication/ Enabling Technologies" and "Batteries: Materials/Manufacturing/Recycling", which take into account the expanded content spectrum of the event.

In the specialist session "Batteries" chaired by Dr. Tobias Placke (Institute MEET - Münster Electrochemical Energy Technology, University of Münster), the presentation by Dr. Florian Degen in particular is likely to be eagerly awaited. Under the title "A unique research initiative to strengthen Europe", the representative from the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT will present the current status and future direction of the lighthouse project "Battery Cell Research Production". The lecture by Dr. Patrick Baumhof, representative of the vaccine manufacturer CureVac AG, is also awaited with great interest.

The Young Academics poster exhibition will also benefit from digitalisation. Thus, in addition to the poster sessions, in which the young academics present posters in video chats, there will also be short videos on each poster. In addition to personal exchange, virtual networking rooms will also give larger groups the opportunity to exchange ideas spontaneously via video chat. The accompanying exhibition will take place in virtual exhibition halls.
